Standard Coating Specifications

1. Protective Coating (P-coating)

Dream Lasers provide the protective coating which can prevent the polished surfaces of BBO from exposure to moisture, considering the fact the polished surfaces are very easy to be fogged in humid air due to its low hygroscopic susceptibility. P-coated BBO with a mount is much simpler and better to use than BBO with housing.

2. Anti-Reflective Coatings (AR-coatings)

Dream Lasers can manufacture and supply single-band, dual-band and broad-band AR-coatings for BBO applications (extracavity and intracavity SHG, THG, 4HG, SFG, OPO, etc.), featured by high damage threshold,. low reflectance, anti-moisture and long durability. Typical AR-coatings and residual reflectivities are listed as following for reference. AR-coatings at other wavelengths are available upon customers' requests.


1. BBO is soft and therefore the protection of its polished surfaces requires precautions.

2. BBO has a low susceptibility to moisture. The user is advised to provide dry conditions for both use and preservation of BBO.

3. Keep in mind that the acceptance angle of BBO is small, when angle adjusting is necessary.

4. Dream Lasers can design and select the best crystal for you if the parameters of your laser are provided (such as: energy per pulse, pulse width and repetition rate for a pulsed laser, power for a cw laser, mode condition, divergence, laser beam diameter, wavelength tuning range, etc)
